An exciting opportunity has arisen for a skilled and detail-oriented Group Management Accountant to join the the LSL Group Finance team, based in Newcastle. 

 

This role is pivotal in ensuring accurate financial reporting across the Group, aligning with accounting policies and procedures. Reporting directly to the Group Head of Reporting, you will provide valuable financial insights and support strategic decision-making to drive the long-term success of the company.

The main accountabilities of the role will include:

  • Consolidation of the monthly Group P&L accounts, cash-flow and balance sheet, and preparation of Group management accounts pack
  • Preparation & analysis of monthly Head Office management P&L accounts and forecasts, cash-flow and balance sheet reconciliations
  • Providing analysis and insight into cost and revenue variances and trends and driving improvement in cost reporting and management across the Group
  • Responsible for monthly preparation and distribution of Group Corporate Function recharges and acting as business partner to those functions
  • Tracking and reporting monthly capital expenditure and project forecasts across the Divisions
  • Analysis of balance sheet & cash-flows, such as aged debtors/creditors, and other working capital elements
  • Supporting all Group Finance responsibilities, working closely with the Group Head of Reporting and other members of the Financial and Management reporting team
  • Work closely with Group Finance colleagues to ensure full understanding of the financials and reporting landscape
  • Strive for continuous improvement in all processes to drive robust and accurate outputs, including improvements to reporting, self-serve capability and systems development
  • Support budget preparation for Head Office cost centre and Corporate Function recharges
  • Group Audit support – preparation of lead schedules and to support Interim and Full Year reporting
  • Ad-hoc tasks and projects as required

Qualifications & Experience

Essential:

  • Part-qualified or newly qualified in CIMA, ACCA, or ACA (study support available).

  • Experience in management accounting with exposure to P&L, Balance Sheet, and Cashflow.

  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills across all levels.

  • Excellent attention to detail, with the ability to identify trends and anomalies.

  • Ability to manage time effectively, prioritize, and meet reporting deadlines.

  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to support Group Finance functions effectively.

Desirable:

  • Experience in statutory accounts preparation.

  • Proficiency in MS Office, especially Excel, and accounting software (ideally SUN Accounts).
